Role of Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is a dynamic and evolving healthcare profession centered on the science of human movement. The clinical process begins with a detailed and systematic evaluation. This includes assessment of muscle performance, joint mobility, posture, balance, coordination, gait, neurological integrity, cardiopulmonary endurance, and functional capacity. Based on clinical findings, physiotherapists design individualized management plans that address specific impairments and activity limitations.
Treatment strategies may involve therapeutic exercise programs, manual therapy techniques, electro-physical modalities, neuromuscular re-education, functional training, and ergonomic advice. Emphasis is placed on restoring strength, flexibility, endurance, motor control, and movement efficiency. Continuous reassessment ensures that interventions remain goal-oriented and outcome-focused.

Eligibility Criteria
Qualifying Examination
Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board with:
English
Physics
Chemistry
Biology (Botany & Zoology)
Minimum Marks
Minimum 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology).
Entrance Examination
Candidates must have appeared for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) as prescribed by the NCAHP curriculum.
Age Requirement
Candidate should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
Course Duration
The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is a 5-year competency-based programme, comprising:
Four academic years
One year (12 months) compulsory rotatory clinical internship
The curriculum follows the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework recommended by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), integrating classroom teaching, laboratory training, simulation-based learning, early clinical exposure, community postings, and supervised clinical practice.
