Role of a Dialysis Technologist

Dialysis Technology is a specialized allied healthcare programme that prepares students to assist in the management of patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases requiring renal replacement therapy. Dialysis Technologists play a vital role in operating dialysis equipment, monitoring patients during dialysis procedures, maintaining infection control standards, and supporting nephrologists in delivering safe and effective patient care.

The programme combines theoretical knowledge with intensive clinical training in haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, dialysis equipment maintenance, patient monitoring, vascular access management, emergency care, and infection prevention. Eligibility Criteria

Qualifying Examination

Candidates seeking admission should have passed 10+2 (PUC or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from a recognized board.

Admission Requirements

Admissions are conducted as per the norms prescribed by the Government of Karnataka, Para Medical Board, and other applicable regulatory authorities.

 

Course Duration

The Diploma in Dialysis Technology is a 3-year programme, consisting of:

First Year – Basic Medical Sciences

Second Year – Dialysis Sciences & Patient Care

Third Year – Advanced Dialysis Procedures & Clinical Training
